The one show that started a great franchise . hide « show »

The animation really does show it's age but I kind of got used to it as I watch it. The show does have a good storyline. The characters are great. Amuro angsting does get annoying sometimes but he has good reasons to be all angsty.

It was nice to see a lot of stuff that the later gundams series was based off of. Despite the fact the animation is anicent, the battles in the shows were really good, especially the final battle. The final battle does feel like a warzone. I'm now interested to see the UC gundams after watching this one.

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, known in Japan as New Mobile Report Gundam W, was aired across Japan on the anime satellite television network, Animax, and the terrestrial TV Asahi network. hide « show »

The story of Gundam Wing begins in the year After Colony 195, with the start of Operation: Meteor; the scientists' revenge against the OZ military organization. It centers around five young boys who have been chosen and trained by the five rogue scientists, then sent to Earth in extremely advanced Mobile Suits, one designed by each of the scientists, known as "Gundams". Their Mobile Suits are called Gundams, because they are constructed from a rare and astonishingly durable material known as Gundanium alloy, which can only be created in outer space.

The five Gundam Pilots, Heero Yuy (his code name, not to be confused with the assassinated leader), Duo Maxwell (not his original name, his current name came from elements in his past), Trowa Barton (also not his original name and was previously known as Nanashi (No-Name)), Quatre Raberba Winner, and Chang Wufei, originally have no knowledge of each others' existence, and on their first meeting, each pilot believes the others to be new OZ mobile suit designs. Once the young pilots realize that they have the same objective of destroying OZ and in some cases, are given the same mission, they band together to help each other complete their ultimate goal.

A great anime, the finest, best of the best. Hail Zeon for being a part of such a great series! hide « show »

Yes well if I don't say so myself it truley was a great series. I loved it. Truley great and a legend for all time. Hopefully it is never forgotten. It is the forefather of all other Gundam series and other series like Zoids, Big O, Transformers, Beast Wars, etc. If you watch animes with huge robots it is because the ideas first came from Gundam the original. It is the cause for great games as well. I do say it is truley great and I think it didn't get the credit it deserved and still does. Yes, to many anime fans the voice of Gundam sadly comes on def ears. Still for me it will never be forgotten.

For those who don't appreciate bad graphics and poor dubbing... hide « show »

This is not your show. Mobile Suit Gundam is perhaps the most influential mecha ever. It set the standard for more recent shows in the genre such as Evangelion, RahXephon, Dai-Guard. Yes, the animation is bad. Yes, it's uncut is still a Y-7 by American standards. Yes, Cartoon Network never finished a complete run on either Toonami or Adult Swim and then had the nerve to premiere the Char's Counterattack movie. But all this does not detract from the American Mobile Suit Gundam experience. The real-time war strategy, the constant action, the distinct character personalities and of course a bittersweet ending. If you've never seen it before, then pick it up immediately. The only problem is that Bandai never acquired the rights to the subbed version so their releases only include the English dub without any subtitles (English or Foreign)
