Ralph R. Farquhar who created the series "Moesha", made this show a big success after the last failing show "South Central". The series featured Grammy Award Winning artist Brandy Norwood and actress Sherly Lee Ralph in a series that showed how life was really like in Leimert Park, Los Angeles California. Moesha Deniese Mitchell is teenager who soon became an adult, learning various issues to do with love, sex, relationship and family. Following her mothers death Moesha looked after her father Frank Mitchell (William Allen Young) and brother Myles Mitchell (Marcus T. Paulk) She jealous of her new step-mother Dee Mitchell (Sherly Lee Ralph) who seemed to be taking over her role but the two have gotten to know and understand each other. Mo's friends Kim Parker (Countess Vaughn-James), Niecy Jackson (Shar Jackson) and Hakeem Campbell (Lamount Bentley) have made it through teenage adventure-hood with Moesha into becoming mature adults. When Countess Vaughn James left the series to do with Mo'Nique on her own show called "The Parkers" which was the "Moesha" spin-off, Ray-J came along to take over the show and became the new cast member of the show. After the show was cancelled in 2001 due to falling ratings, the series became best known for being the first to run on UPN for 6 seasons in 6 years .less «

  They should've let the show go on . I know some people were upset when they found out that dorrian was franks son but everyone aint perfect and that episode showed that things happen but you got pick it up and go on . It was time for a change really because through out most of the series they protrayed frank as this perfect person that never did anything wrong. It goes to show whats done in the dark comes to the light. less «

  Who thought  the finale was great????? I liked it. Why did it end tho' when it was getting good. By the sixth season, Moesha seemed to become a full-blown melodramatic sitcom. As a result, some Moesha purists have labeled the series as a "dramedy." In the final episode of the season, it was revealed that Myles was kidnapped by a rival of Dorian and an unknown pregnancy test found in the trash at Moesha's dorm. A seventh season of the show was planned, but UPN let the series go as ratings continued to decline from Season 5. Many viewers were simply unforgiving of the Secrets and Lies episode that made Dorian an out-of-wedlock child of Frank. Entertainment Weekly reported that certain plots were to be resolved on The Parkers even with Ray J joining the cast, but to no avail. A movie was rumored to also be planned to end the series, but Lamont Bentley unexpectedly died in a car accident in January 2005. Therefore, the show ended on a cliffhanger, never to be resolved. less «

  Moesha was a really good show when first started. its like a pot of soup but with the jokes as carrots and the actors' personalities as the spices. lol, i rally liked this show. kim was always my favourite character. i liked neicy aswwell. Miles was annoying, as is all little siblings. this show did show all emotions. happiness, anger, pain, laughter....

  Despite Brandy being the star, it was a great show. Funny, timely and relevant to it's target audience. Countess Vaughn and few others were the bright spots on the show. Even Frank with his square fro was at times funnier than the star. But Brandy wasn't completely abysmal as the lead. She played the straight character very well, but I'm not sure if that was intentional. Brandy has said that she regretted playing such a goody goody role. I think that persona was beneficial to all the young girls that watched this show. Lord knows we didn't need another bad teen role model to emulate.

  This show is about the R&B singer Brandy and her made-up family. It follows her character through her adolescent and college years and ups-and downs. hide « show »

  I absolutely looove this show and is one of my favorites.
  
  This show is hilarious, funny, and off the chain and comes
  
  up with these genuine episodes and sketches that make me
  
  watch the reruns everyday. I watched it when it was still
  
  playing and going through the motions. Brandy makes this
  
  show all the more worth while to watch. I recommend it and
  
  recommend the DVDs and videos.

  One of the first shows to hit UPN, this was an amazing show. I loved Brandy's character, Moesha, and the trials she faced being a teenager in L.A. Compared to most shows, the show was real in the way that it portrayed teenage life. Whether it was boyfriends, friendships, jobs, arguments with her parents, being bugged by her younger brother, partying, or getting a tattoo, Moesha went throught it all, and she always found a way out of her problems - writing about it in her diary. The show started out as a comedy with mild drama, but as it progressed, it focused more on the dramatic viewpoint, especially when Brandy's brother, Ray-J, joined the cast as D-Money. Not to say that his storyline wasn't interesting, but it just seemed the show focused on him too much at times. After all, it was called "Moesha," not "D-Money." Focusing on Ray-J's character just made it seem like he was riding Brandy's coattail to get his big break in TV. But regardless, the show was good from beginning to end, and it's one I don't mind watching in syndication day after day.

  This is definitely one of my favorite shows of all time. As a young Black female, it's great to see someone I, along with other young Black females, can look up to and relate to. The show dealt with some very controversial issues and really hit home with Moesha's different experiences both negative and positive.
  I am so glad the N still shows episodes of this.
