I just watched my DVD set today for the umpteenth time since this series was canceled in what had to be the dumbest move in TV history, and I recall thinking when "Fated to Pretend" first aired after the strike, that this episode would SURELY clinch the coveted renewal.
It was sci-fi fantasy TV at its very best and brought out the best in all the key characters; especially the interactions between "brothers" Josef and Mick, and not-yet lovers Mick and Beth.
Like all good shows it contained humour, suspense and not a few hard earned tears, and all for great characters and a plot line that were so easy to invest in.
...and today, after watching again, I am still shaking my head all this time later over why this great series was lost. Still, this show accomplished more in 16 episodes than many do in years on the air.
Human first....vampire next...human again...vampire again...and no more being human. hide show
Well, Mick is human again...and then he decides he was better off being a vampire anyway. The new D.A is kinda cute. I've seen him in a movie with much longer hair, but he's better with short hair. Anyway, Mick and Beth are working together again in two case. One being a about a politician killing his wife, while the other is about donuts that have a killing ingredient in them, which is the end it has nothing to do with the donuts...but vampires.
Beth and Ben(the new D.A) got kidnapped by vampire, and human Mick desperately wants to save them, well....he only seem concerned with Beth anyway.
Well, here Josef goes again. Chickening out from a vampire fight. Despite being a 400 yr old vamp, he sure doesn't look tough like Mick being human. And if Josef really cares about Mick, he should have offered himself and his army of vamps(if he has any...but he doesn't) to save Beth. I guess Josef is a lame 400 yr old vamp who doesn't like action and is just a waste of space.
He's 400 yrs old, and he gives me the impression that he is the vamp leader in the city of L.A. So instead of showing those lowly vamps not to make trouble in his city, he lets em' and lets Mick do all the work. So much for Josef's so called rules and principles....lame. Lame Josef.
And Mick, no offense but...can't you at least ask help from ur other vamp friends to help you? Or maybe you're like Josef, both of you don't have much friends....
The whole episode was great but the last five minutes.... well that's why I watch Moonlight! hide show
As each episode progressed this season, the chemistry between Mick and Beth just kept getting better and better. This episode was no exception! I can't believe they cancelled this show and I hope someone picks it up soon. I can't go on watching clips on youtube over and over again for the rest of my life!! When there is so much on tv that isn't worth watching, why wouldn't someone pick up this series which is for over 8 million people around the world? Fated to pretend had classic moonlight plot line, chemistry and music and shows us why this show deserves to be picked up for season two.
Human, Vamps and His Beth. hide show
"He has Beth. He has my Beth. So please, please brother."
"Mick. Forgive me"...
One of the best Eps Moonlight has had imo. With Mick being human the dinamics of the show change a bit, but not much. Which tells us that this show doesnt go on the hole 'turn vamp, lose your soul/spirit' thing. You do get to see a very happy and content Mick, with his sirt half off too :p But the ep isnt all sun and Humans. With the shock of Maureen's (Beths boss) death, it sends both Mick and Beth into investigative mode. After hunting down all the suspects they catch their Vamp, but Beth ends up getting taken. This leads to the moment were Micks feeling really show, not only to use but to Josef as well. The seen that follows is not only emotional but sexy :D I dont care what you think. but imo two hot guys (one vamp) turning the other for a girl he's in love with and cant save unless he's something he hates being, is hot.
and sealed with a mickbeth kiss at the end, It's a ep I have watch a few times :D
I think that this is the best episode of Moonlight. hide show
I love scenes with Josef and Mick. This moment when Josef appeared out of nowhere and said:
What are you doing?
Mick: Don't do that!
Josef: What? Use my crafty vampire abilities to sneak up on you?
Mick: Why are you here?
Josef: Guillermo called me, said you were about to do something extremely stupid, I said: "Wait, that can't be the Mick that I know!"
this is really funny :) They are as a brother!
Then is the most beautiful scene in this episode. Mick said that he can't help Beth as a human, but he can do this as a vampire. He told Josef that he have to turn him back...
When Mick was a vampire, he go with Josef to clinique and help Beth. ;]
In the end of episode Mick kissed Beth. It is really romantic... and hot.
I hope that they will together forever. :):)
