The title is a twist on the old expression, "Every father's daughter is a virgin," which itself refers to the way a father didn't like to think of his daughter growing up and having a private life.
Here, the new name takes into account Maddie's sad discovery of her father's secrets, as well as her stubborn denial that her parents could be like anyone else-- they could have serious problems.
She wanted to maintain her childhood impression of her parents as noble people with better behavior, not part of dreary reality. (edit)
