100 Rifles is a colorful, action-packed 1969 Western about the Mexican Revolution directed by Tom Gries ("Helter Skelter"). Indian Joe Herrera (Burt Reynolds) robs an Arizona bank to finance 100 rifles for his Yaqui tribe that has revolted against the Mexican government. Sheriff Lyedecker (Jim Brown) follows Joe south of the border in hopes of recovering the money. Instead, he finds himself chased by Mexican Federales, led by the unethical General Verdugo (Fernando Lamas), when they include them in their bloody hunt of the banditos. Both Joe and Lyedecker receive help from Sarita (Raquel Welch), who joined the uprising after the cruel death of her father by Verdugo and his squad. After barely escaping with his life, the Arizona lawman develops a new perspective on Joe's illegal activities. He also begins a steamy love affair with the lovely Sarita. The military and the Indians head toward a final, violent confrontation that will decide the fate of the nation.
