16 to Life is a 2009 romantic comedy directed by Becky Smith. Kate (Hallee Hirsh) feels disappointed that she is turning 16 and has never had a romantic kiss from a boy. Kate lives in a small rural community in Iowa and works in a beauty salon. As of late she's been dissatisfied with her lack of sexual experience. Her latest obsession is reading books about the Chinese revolution. As her birthday rolls around, it's nothing like she expected it to be, in fact, it's miserable. When her best friend, Darby (Mandy Musgrave), goes on a mission to lose her virginity by midnight, Kate is shocked, but decides to act like she doesn't care. She starts fixing up her co-workers on dates with other people. Her friend Louise (Theresa Russell) gets fixed up with a paraplegic Chinese historian, Ronald (Jaime Gomez), and things seem to go well. As midnight approaches, Kate realizes she is not one to follow in other people's footsteps and learns a lot about herself as she turns one year older and wiser.
