1918 is a drama from 1985 that centers on the lives of a small family. The United States entered World War I the previous year and the movie looks at the fever that swept across the country, as young men left home and enlisted in the military. Horace Robedaux (William Converse-Roberts) wants to join his neighbors and enlist, but is anxious about what might happen to his wife Elizabeth (Hallie Foote). The two share a daughter, which makes his leaving even more of a concern. His father-in-law decides to make arrangements for his family, which should leave him worry free. Instead, Horace worries even more about what would happen. The film takes place in a small Texas town, where many able-bodied men decide to enlist. In the midst of deciding what is best for himself, his family, and his country, Horace faces a new problem. The influenza epidemic of 1918 attacks Texas, changing the lives of almost everyone.
