21 is a 2008 suspense drama about six MIT students who used their brains to master the art of card counting and went on win millions in Las Vegas casinos. The film, directed by Peter Steinfeld, begins with Ben Campbell (Jim Sturgess) looking for a quick way to pay for tuition. With the looming possibility of being kicked out of school, Ben finds his answer in the cards when he is recruited to join a team of gifted students who have mastered the art of card counting. Ben soon assumes a fake identity and joins the team as they attempt to beat the Vegas odds and win big money with their method. With the use of a complex system of hand signals, the team is successful and things begin to look up for Ben. However, Las Vegas can be intoxicating and Ben gets seduced by the Vegas lifestyle to the point where it begins to affect his own. He begins to push his luck and before long, things begin to spiral out of control.moreless
