3 Needles is an anthology film about the AIDS pandemic which plagues nearly every corner of the world. The film was made by Canadian filmmaker Thom Fitzgerald in 2005. 3 Needles follows three separate characters as they experience the tragic ramifications of contracting and spreading the virus. Sister Clara (Chloe Sevigny) works as a missionary in a South African village with two other missionaries. She is headstrong and devoted to the rape victim for whom she works. Sister Clara makes a great sacrifice for the victim's family when she subjects herself to a cruel and lasting punishment. Denny (Shawn Ashmore) works as a pornstar in the Canadian entertainment industry. He is required to provide his boss with an HIV test regularly, so that he can continue working. But when Denny learns he tests positive for the virus, he forges his results and continues working. Lastly there is Jin Ping (Lucy Liu), a stealthy Chinese woman who collects blood for an illegal market of doctors. She inadvertently infects a group of people after failing to follow strict orders in her work. A heart-breaking and moving film, 3 Needles will leave you feeling like you should take action against the AIDS virus.
