4D Man is an American-made science fiction movie that was released in 1959. Tony Nelson (James Congdon), a brilliant young scientist, is on the verge of making the greatest invention of his time, a device that makes it possible for one object to pass through another object unharmed. After he accidentally blows up his laboratory, Tony goes to his brother Scott (Robert Lansing) for help. More intelligent than Tony, Scott is able to make the invention work as it should but then, through an accident where his own hand becomes part of the experiment, he realizes that he does not need the machine anymore to pass through objects. This new power changes Scott and after spending a night robbing several businesses, he awakens the next morning feeling and looking at least 15 years older as his new ability drains his life force each time he passes through an object. He finds a way to replenish his own life force, by passing through other people, but while it restores him, it kills them. Scott must now be responsible for the first time in his life and try to fix the situation his invention has caused.
