5 Children and It is a 2004 family fantasy adventure directed by John Stephenson. In the film, siblings Robert (Freddie Highmore), Cyril (Jonathan Bailey), Anthea (Jessica Claridge) and Jane (Poppy Rogers) have been sent to live with their Uncle Albert (Kenneth Branagh) by their parents (Tara Fitzgerald, Alex Jennings). Their parents made the agonizing decision to send their children to the country with their uncle because they fear for their safety because WWI is going on. Uncle Albert lives in a dilapidated mansion in country. The children are not happy about the move and even more upset when they arrive at the mansion. Their uncle is very strange, and the staff is strange also. The children are not given many rules except to stay out of the old greenhouse on the property. Given only this rule, the children promptly set out to explore the forbidden greenhouse. The exploration of the greenhouse unveils a magical adventure for the young children.
