8.50, also known as 8 1/2, is a surreal dramatic movie released in 1963. This Oscar winning film for Best Foreign Language Film follows the crazy life of director Guido Anselmi (Marcello Mastroianni) a film director who has moved past his peak of stardom and is trying to rekindle his place in society and his inspiration for film making. His overbearing wife (Anouk Aimee) has lost all interest in him, and he is losing interest in his mistress, the young and beautiful Carla (Claudia Cardinale). In addition, he is being hounded by the producer of his new science-fiction epic to finish the movie, but he cannot find the motivation and is stuck. The film weaves in and out of Anselmi's reality and day dreams, leaving the viewer guessing as to what is truly real, and what is simply a beautiful fantasy. This film was directed by the great Italian artist, Federico Fellini, and is considered his greatest work.
