83 Hours Till Dawn is a 1990 TV thriller about the race to save a teenaged girl kidnapped and buried by a ruthless psychopath. The Burdocks, Bradley (Robert Urich) and Janet (Shannon Wilcox), are the heads of an affluent American family in Florida anxiously awaiting the return of their daughter, Julie (Samantha Mathis), from college. Their world is pulled out from under them when they receive word that their daughter has been kidnapped by an unscrupulous criminal named Wayne Stracton (Peter Strauss). Stracton demands half a million dollars in ransom for Julie's return and has prepared a strong incentive to get the deal closed quickly: he has buried Julie in a small box with only 83 hours of air! While the Burdocks cope with this tragedy, the FBI do everything they can to find the girl before those precious few hours run out. The film is based on the true 1968 story of heiress Barbara Jane Mackle and her kidnapper, Gary Steven Kirst.moreless
