9 Songs is a British film that tells the story of two young people who spend a year together as lovers in London. In the film, Matt (Kieran O'Brien) is a climatologist who works for the English government. One day he meets Lisa (Margo Stilley), an American exchange student. The two of them instantly become lovers and bond over the experience of listening to live music together. The film follows them as they frequently attend rock concerts around London. They also often escape to the countryside where they spend most of the time rolling around together in bed. 9 Songs received notoriety upon its release for its graphic depiction of sexual intercourse, including actual sex acts conducted by the actors. The title of the film is derived from the nine songs that form the film's soundtrack, including tracks by the Dandy Warhols, Franz Ferdinand, The Von Bondies and the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
