PG-13
99 Francs is a 2007 French satirical comedy drama from director Jan Kounen, a Dutch-born Frenchman. The film was inspired by a novel with the same title by Frédéric Beigbeder, and it aims to act as a tirade against consumerism and modern society. Octave Parango (Jean Dujardin) is a successful advertising executive. He has an easy life, which consists of doing a little work, but mostly of taking a variety of drugs and throwing himself into random one-night stands. After a time, he becomes tired of this life, and surprises himself by entering a serious relationship with Sophie (Vahina Giocante), one of his co-workers. However, when this relationship falters and then collapses, Parango decides to take his revenge on his chosen career. Again and again, he tries to do his job so badly that he will be fired, but somehow his errors rebound on him and he ends up being repeatedly promoted.
