A Blueprint For Murder is a 1953 noir mystery from writer and director Andrew L. Stone. Whitney Cameron (Joseph Cotton) goes to visit his dead brother's children, and their stepmother, Lynne Cameron (Jean Peters), his brother's second wife in New York. His niece suddenly goes into convulsions and dies at the hospital, suffering the same symptoms as her dead father. Fred Sargent (Gary Merrill), the family attorney, and his wife Maggie (Catherine McLeod) take Cameron aside and share their suspicions about Lynne's involvement in the deaths. She stands to inherit the entire estate if both children are dead. Cameron, who has held a torch for Lynne for years, cannot imagine she would be involved. Yet, he feels an obligation to protect his nephew, Doug (Freddy Ridgeway). Cameron decides to join Lynne and Doug on an ocean liner trip to Europe with a plan to uncover any family secrets by whatever means necessary.
