A Boy and His Dog is a 1973 post-apocalyptic film directed by L.Q. Jones and based on a novella by Harlan Ellison. The film follows Vic (Don Johnson), a boy with the ability to communicate telepathically with his dog, Blood (voiced by Tim McIntire). Vic and Blood are trapped in a dystopian world where gangs control access to resources and mutants called screamers control the nights. Vic and Blood continually crisscross the desert landscape seeking one of two things; food for both of them or sex for Vic. Blood uses his canine sense of smell to track down women for Vic, who in turn provides food and protection to Blood. When Blood finds Quilla June Holmes (Susanne Benton), Vic thinks all his dreams are answered. Quilla enjoys sex and can't get enough of Vic. Blood, on the other hand, has misgivings about Quilla's motives from the outset. When Quilla lures Vic to her underground world of 1950s utopian splendor, Blood refuses to follow. In the end, however, Vic discovers Quilla's world is not all that it was cracked up to be, despite the opportunity for unlimited free sex.moreless
