A Brooklyn State of Mind is the 1998 crime drama in which a reporter gets a little too close to a criminal. Gabriela (Maria Grazia Cucinotta), a filmmaker, moves to the neighborhood and tells local Al Stanco (Vincent Spano) that she's trying to shoot a documentary about the real Brooklyn. Since Al has spent his whole life in Brooklyn, he gladly offers to help show her around. However, it soon becomes clear that Gabriela's true intentions are to expose the criminal syndicate run by crime lord Danny Parente (Danny Aiello). The revelation is complicated by the fact that Al has done some work for Danny along the way, and although he knew it was shady, he feels a certain sense of loyalty to Danny and to his neighborhood. However, Gabriela shows Al the evidence that she's captured on film, and it turns out that Danny has been responsible for a lot more than Al realized. In fact, Danny seems to have ordered several murders, and Al begins to ask questions about the earlier murder of his own father.moreless
