A Chinese Ghost Story is a supernatural adventure that features thrilling martial arts, strange creatures, and timeless romance. Instead, he happens upon a Taoist swordsman, Yen Che-Hsia (Ma Wu), who warns him to avoid the nearby Lan Ro temple. Ignoring the Taoist's advice, Ning hurries to the temple to find refuge from the elements. Unfortunately for him, Ning has played right into the hands of the beautiful ghost Nie Xiaoqian (Joey Wang) and her wicked master, Lao Lao (Siu-Ming Lau), who trap amorous young men and feast on their souls. In a twist of fate, Xiaoqian finds herself falling for the hapless tax collector and struggles to free herself from her master's evil grip. Once they are joined by the Taoist swordsman, the true battle against good and evil begins.
