A Cinderella Story, which is based on the classic fairy tale about Cinderella, is a 2004 romantic comedy directed by Marc Rosman. After her father dies, Samantha "Sam" Montgomery (Hilary Duff) becomes a virtual slave to her stepmother Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge) and her spoiled stepsisters, Brianna (Madeline Zima) and Gabriella (Andrea Avery). Despite the fact that Sam is trying to do well in school so that she can go to Princeton, Fiona forces Sam to work long hours at the family diner. Sam's menial job has earned her disdain from the popular, wealthy kids in her high school, especially cheerleader Shelby Cummings (Julie Gonzalo). Although Sam has all these difficulties, there is still one bright spot in her life -- her budding romantic relationship with her online pen pal, who goes by the nickname Nomad. Spurred by the urging of her best friend Carter (Dan Byrd), Sam decides to go to her school's Halloween dance in a mask to meet Nomad for the first time. After Sam realizes that her online friend is actually Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray), the most popular boy in school, will Sam find enough courage to reveal her true identity?moreless
