A Fish Called Wanda is 1998 comedy caper film starring John Cleese, Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Michael Palin. The film follows a planned jewel heist by gangster George Thomason (Tom Georgeson) and his number-one man, Ken Pile (Palin). They hire a con artist named Wanda (Curtis) and a weapons man named Otto (Kline). The robbery goes off without a hitch, or so they think. They are seen at the scene of the crime by an old woman walking her dogs. Wanda and Otto double cross their benefactors and send George to prison. Wanda seduces George's lawyer and unhappy husband, Archie Leach (John Cleese) in order to discover the location of the stolen jewels. George discovers Wanda and Archie's affair in the courtroom and causes a brawl ending with the courtroom being evacuated by all attendants. While this is going on Otto tortures Ken to discover the loaction of the diamonds for himself. After a few more unexpected double crosses, the diamonds are found by Wanda and Otto but more double crosses are still to come. The film received critical acclaim, including earning Kevin Kline an Academy Award for best supporting actor.
