A Good Day to be Black & Sexy is a film that delves into the sexual lives of Black people living in the city of Los Angeles. The film was written and directed by Dennis Dortch. The movie, Dortch's film debut, was released in 2008 and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. A Good Day to be Black & Sexy is comprised of six brief vignettes, each one exploring the sexual behavior of a different person. Dortch narrows in on each character's story and attempts to shatter the pre-existing generalizations that have been made about sexuality in the black community. Each character's story varies - one woman has her first sexual experience, a teenage girl finds herself in an awkward situation, and a man struggles to overcome taboos. The film includes the following characters: Jeanette (Kathryn Taylor), Tony (Brandon Valley Jones), Helena (Chonte Harris), D'Andre (Marcuis Harris), Jade (LaKeisha Blackwell), Tamala (Mylika Davis), Jabari (Allen Maldonado), Julian (Jerome Hawkins), Meagan (Natalia Morris), and Jill (Alisa Sherrod).
