PG-13
A Guy Thing is a 2003 romantic comedy that shows exactly what can go wrong during a seemingly innocent bachelor party. Paul (Jason Lee) is on the verge of marrying Karen (Selma Blair), and is determined to enjoy his wedding day with a clear conscience. He spends his own bachelor party trying to avoid anything that could get him in hot water with Karen. But despite his best intentions, Paul wakes up the next morning with his memory gone and a gorgeous woman in bed with him. Shocked, Paul tries to convince Becky (Julia Stiles) to leave, so that he can figure out what happened and explain the situation to Karen. But to make matters worse, Karen is on her way to visit Paul before he can get any useful information from Becky. Paul finds himself lying to Karen, desperate to keep his wedding day from falling apart. As the big day draws closer, Paul, Karen and Becky continue to fall into a deeper and deeper web of hilarious misunderstandings and mysteries, and Paul isn't certain whether he'll ever make to the altar or not.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 40

    Variety Dennis Harvey

Does get slightly better as it goes along.

  • 30

    Los Angeles Times Manohla Dargis

The three leads go through the motions with goofy geniality, and director Chris Koch has enlisted some consummate character actors -- to help hold up the sagging jokes and story line.

  • 20

The New York Times Stephen Holden

Most of the meager charms of the chaotic romantic farce A Guy Thing spring from the deft comic contortions of Hollywood's ultimate nerdy sidekick, Jason Lee.
