Movie Summary

Alfonso Cuarón
A Little Princess tells the enchanting story of Sara Crewe (Liesel Matthews), a wealthy girl who must attend boarding school in New York after her father (Liam Cunningham) goes off to war to fight for Britain. She quickly gains popularity at the school when she begins telling imaginative stories to the other students. The headmistress Miss Michin (Eleanor Bron) dislikes Sara's stories, and after she learns that Sara's father is missing in action and she won't be able to collect any more money from him, she demotes Sara to a life of servitude. But despite the cruelty of Miss Minchin, Sara keeps telling her stories. She befriends another servant girl and they and the school girls all meet in secret to hear more of Sara's fanciful tales. Meanwhile, an elderly man in a mansion next door is keeping watch on Sara. After his son comes home from the same war as Sara's father, they may uncover secrets that will make Sara's hopes a reality.moreless
