Can a humble man born in a small Scottish town hear the call of God, travel to a foreign land without a penny in his pocket, and then rise to the position of Chaplin of the the most powerful government on Earth? A Man Called Peter is the story of Peter Marshall, a Scottish immigrant who dreamed of the sea, but received a calling from God to preach His Word. Marshall would leave Scotland to take over a small congregation in rural America. But God had other plans. With His blessings, Marshall works his way from a tiny town in the south, to Washington D.C. and eventually becomes appointed as U.S. Senate Chaplain. The movie is based on the best-selling account of Marshall's life written by his wife Catherine Marshall. It is a powerful tale of love and wisdom, of the loyalty of a dynamic man for his God, and the tender love between a man and his wife. This true story revolves around Peter Marshall's remarkable faith, his sermons and prayers, and the inspiration he spreads through his words and a life of dedication to his God. Marshall is played by Richard Todd, who captures the magnetism of this Christian leader, and the adventure of a life turned over to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
