A Monkey's Tale is a 2000 animated French film written and directed by Jean-Francois Laguionie. The film tells the story of Korn, a member of the Woonkos tribe of monkeys. The tribe is afraid of a nearby pit in which there lives evil monkeys. Korn doesn't believe the elder Woonkos and one day while he is swinging through the trees he falls and meets members of the Lankoo tribe. As he comes to know the Lankoos, Korn realizes that they are similar to his own tribe. He befriends Gina, a young maid, and Master Martin, the tribe's librarian. When Korn and his friends discover a plot to kill the Lankoo king, they fight back and put a stop to the evils of Sebastian, the governess, and Gerard the Gormless. The governess is given poison to give the king, but Gina gives her the poison instead. Eventually Gina and Korn bring peace to the tribe and are able to unite the neighboring monkeys.
