A Night to Remember is a 1958 film based on a novel of the same name. The movie follows the sinking of the Titanic, told mostly from the view of Charles Lightoller (Kenneth More). On the night of April 14, 1912, nearby vessels gave ice warnings to the Titanic. Captain Edward J. Smith (Laurence Naismith) decides to ignore these warning and continue on. In the middle of the night, a lookout sees an iceberg ahead. Although the ship turns hard, it still strikes the iceberg, causing five compartments to open up and water to seep in. The ship's builder, Thomas Andrew (Michael Goodliffe), surveys the damage and realizes the ship will sink. The problem is that there are not enough lifeboats to save all the ships' passengers. With distress signals sent out, the crew of the Titanic attempts to evacuate passengers, allowing women and children to get on lifeboats first. A Night to Remember is a classic movie, filled with adventure and drama.moreless
