A Place of One's Own is a suspense film that revolves around married couple Emilie (Barbara Mullen) and Henry Smedhurst (James Mason). Upon retiring, they purchase a mansion in the country. Shortly after moving in with their servants, Mr. and Mrs. Smedhurst learn that the mansion may be haunted by a young girl who was murdered there 40 years before. The couple are skeptical, as neither one is a believer in Paranormality. Annette (Margaret Lockwood) is a young woman who the Smedhursts invite to stay in their home. Shortly after her arrival, Annette begins to hear strange noises. Eventually, the spirit of the young murder victim takes over Annette's body, making her health decline. Unsure of what else to do, the Smedhursts enlist the assistance of Dr. Marsham (Ernest Thesiger), the doctor who attended to the murder victim years earlier, in order to figure out what the dead girl wants. To find out if Annette is able to get rid of the spirit taking over her body before it kills her, watch A Place of One's Own.moreless
