A Return to Salem's Lot is a 1987 American horror film directed by Larry Cohen and starring Michael Moriarty, Samuel Fuller, and Ricky Addison Reed. The film tells the story of Joe Weber (Moriarty) and his son Jeremy (Reed), who return to Salem's Lot, the town of Joe's birth. Upon their arrival, however, they discover that the town has been taken over by vampires. Joe, an amoral anthropologist, is recruited by the vampires to write down their story. A few non-vampires are also recruited by the vampires to run the town during the day and to give their blood when the town is thirsty. When Joe discovers that the vampires have ulterior motives, he works with a Nazi hunter (Fuller) to kill the vampires and save his son. Joe and Jeremy are able to escape, but first they must decide how to destroy town of Salem's Lot.
