A Small Circle of Friends is a 1980 film about three friends at Harvard University in the tumultuous late 1960s. The film follows Leonardo DaVinci Rizzo (Brad Davis), Jessica Bloom (Karen Allen), and Nick Baxter (Jameson Parker) as they experience radical change in their lives and in the history of the United States. As a freshman at Harvard, Leo woos Jessica while working to become a star reporter for the campus newspaper, The Crimson. Throughout their four years at school, things get more complicated. Jessica leaves Leo for pre-med student Nick. This happens as Leo's draft number comes up forcing him to enlist and go to Vietnam. Through it all, the three friends rely on each other despite their differences in love and beliefs. A Small Circle of Friends is an evocative film that deals with politics and love with a group of students on the fault line of a generation gap.
