A Stranger is Watching is a 1982 crime horror directed by Sean Cunningham and written by Mary Higgins Clark. In the film, Steve Peterson (James Naughton) has spent the last three years trying to put his life together for himself and his daughter, Julie (Shawn von Schreiber). Their family was torn apart when a psychopath kidnapped his wife and Julie three years ago. Julie was severely traumatized as she witnessed the killer doing terrible things to her mother before she died. Steve has a new girlfriend, Sharon (Kate Mulgrew), a TV news anchor, and life seems to be getting better for the Peterson's. The man who murdered his wife is about to be put to death and Julie and Steve are hoping this gives them the closure they so desperately need. However, when Sharon and Julie turn up missing Steve fears the worst. With the help of the police Steve frantically works to find them.
