A Tale of Two Sister is a 2004 South Korean horror film in the style of Japanese horror films like Ringu and Ju-On: The Grudge. Su-Mi (Im Soo-Jung) and Su-Yeon (Moon Geun-Young) are two sisters returning home after mysteriously spending time in a mental hospital. Their stepmother, Eun-Joo (Yeom Jeong-A), welcomes them with a maniac enthusiasm at first, but soon tensions between Su-Mi and her rigid and abusive stepmother begin to build. The more passive Su-Yeon takes the abuse mutely as creepy things start happening in the house. First, a visiting house guest goes into unexplainable convulsions. When the girls go to sleep at night, strange sounds and phantoms haunt their visions. When the girls ask their father (Kim Hab-Su) to intervene with their stepmother, he seems strangely withdrawn and passive. What is the secret he is holding? This psychological horror film is written and directed by Ji-woon Kim, based on a Korean folk tale that has been filmed five times before.moreless
