A Texas Funeral, directed by W. Blake Herron, is a 1999 dramatic family comedy set in 1960s Texas. In the film, the Whit family has gathered at the family estate to mourn the loss of the family patriarch, grandpa Spartan (Martin Sheen). However, the Whit family is not the traditional Texan family. The relationships between members of the family are surrounded in conflict and the family has money matters and secrets that must be addressed due to grandpa's death. Caught in the middle of the family drama is Little Spartan (Quinton Jones). Little is pleased to have all his family in one place, but confused by the things he sees. His grandmother, Aunt Miranda (Joanne Whalley), his father and his uncle are all caught by Little in compromising situations. Even grandpa Spartan's pet camel is having a hard time dealing with his death. How will this family survive the death of its patriarch?
