A Thin Line Between Love and Hate is a romantic comedy film starring, written, and directed by Martin Lawrence released in 1996. Darnell (Lawrence) is a nightclub manager, ladies man, and all around playboy. He hopes to one day own the night club he manages called Chocolate City. Much of his womanizing stems from his ability to offer VIP status in the club in exchange for their company. One night at Chocolate City a rich woman arrives at the club named Brandi (Lynn Whitfield) and Darnell believes he has found what he has been looking for. He spits all of the game he has at Brandi, but to no avail. Which only makes Darnell want her even more. Darnell pursues Brandi to the point where she finally gives in to his advances. However, the timing couldn't be any worse as Darnell realizes he is in love with his long time friend, Mia (Regina King). Brandi does not take well to rejection and begins to stalk and harass Darnell. Brandi gets Darnell to break off with Mia, but it turns out to not be enough. Brandi feels she must seek revenge to the point of violence and severely injures Darnell and lands in prison.moreless
