A Time For Killing is a 1967 Civil War drama about Confederate soldiers heading to Mexico after a Union prison break. Major Tom Wolcott (Glenn Ford) runs a Union cavalry post where Confederate Captain Dorrit Bentley (George Hamilton) and his troops are held prisoner. The prisoners escape, taking Wolcott's fiance, Emily Biddle (Inger Stevens), captive and head for the Mexico border to evade Union jurisdiction. Along the way, they encounter and kill a Union courier who was carrying a message that General Lee has surrendered at Appomattox. Bentley keeps this information to himself so that his fellow soldiers will continue their journey. He exacts his revenge and guarantees a confrontation with the Yankees by raping Emily, hoping for one last firefight. Meanwhile, Wolcott and a search party come after the Confederates, unaware that the war is over. Movie buffs can see a very young Harrison Ford and character actor Harry Dean Stanton in small supporting roles.
