A Tragic Room is the 2003 Hong Kong film that follows the story of two sisters. Lok Ping (Irene Wan Pik-Ha) and Lok Yau Nam (Leila Tong Ling) have no one else to depend on but each other. Ping's husband rapes Yau Nam, and Ping in turn kills him. Ping then goes to jail for three years and Yau Nam turns to a life of drug use and prostitution. While she is in jail, Ping's house is demolished. When she is released, she has nowhere to go, so she takes refuge in a warehouse. She finds her sister and locks her in the building to put her through detox. The two live in tension, anxiety, and mourning for their loss. Yau Nam's new boyfriend, Lip Gune (Sunny Chan Kam-Hung) comes looking for her. He pledges to care for her himself, but now Ping begins to feel affection for him. Fate will decide which sister finds love and peace.
