A Walk on the Moon, set against the backdrop of the 1969 music festival Woodstock, tells the story of the Kantrowitz family's transformations while on vacation in upstate New York at Dr. Folger's Bungalows. However, the family is without husband and father Marty (Liev Schreiber) during the weekends because of his work schedule. His wife Pearl (Diane Lane), left alone with her children, spends her time thinking about the youth she missed. Pregnant and married at 17, Pearl feels as though she never got to sow her wild oats like the hippies going to Woodstock just up the road. Then, during the historic first moonwalk, Pearl meets blouse salesman Walker Jerome (Viggo Mortenson). They begin a torrid affair and eventually attend Woodstock together. They are seen by Marty and Pearl's daughter, Allison (Oscar winner Anna Paquin). The revelation of the affair threatens to tear the family apart. The film, actor Tony Goldwyn's directorial debut, explores another side of the baby boom generation during the two historic events of 1969.moreless
