A Yank in the R.A.F. is a black-and-white action-adventure/drama film that was released in 1941 and directed by Henry King. Tim Baker (Tyrone Power) is a jaded but talented pilot who loses his position when he decides to fly a new fighter plane straight into Canada instead of following the proper protocols. He is offered a new job, though, bringing fighters over to war-torn England. While in England, he finds out that his former girlfriend, Carol Brown (Betty Grable), has joined up as a WREN (Women's Royal Naval Service). He decides to enlist in the R.A.F. (Royal Air Force) to impress her, but his attitude and cockiness immediately alienate him from everyone around him and he discovers there is another pilot vying for her affection. Once he is forced to prove himself in battle, though, he begins to show who he truly is and starts to figure out exactly what everyone is fighting for.
