The film is about a hillbilly named Aaron Slick (Alan Young) and his girlfriend, Josie Berry (Dinah Shore) from a small town called Punkin Crick. Josie, a beautiful widow, is anxious to leave the small town behind to begin an exciting life in the big city. Two crooks, Bill Merridew (Robert Merrill) and his cousin, Gladys (Adele Jergens), happen to stop by Josie's farm with $20,000 in their trunk. Bill thinks that the farm sits on oil, but Aaron knows that no such thing exists on this land. Aaron, hoping to make quick cash, encourages Bill to go ahead and purchase the farmland. As soon as the farm is sold, Aaron and Josie quickly make their run to Chicago. Bill soon realizes he has been tricked and starts his chase after the two to Chicago. Watch and see what happens.
