The Abbott & Costello: Funniest Routines Volume 1 is the sidesplitting compilation of the legendary burlesque comedy duo Bud Abbot and Lou Costello. Originally, The duo created their act on the stage, touring various vaudeville theaters, which led them to the radio and eventually on the silver screen. After a slew of hit movies, they created a television show focused on funny situations rather than life lessons and big complex plots, and thus became a great comic inspiration to future legends like Jerry Seinfeld. Though the show aired on CBS, it was never actually part of any specific network. Instead it was filmed and then independently sold to various CBS affiliates. As a result, it would air at different times through out the country. The duo's "shtick" consisted of the since standardized funny man/straight man act. In their most famous sketch titled Who's On First, Abbott tries to explain to Costello the strange names of the ball players of the day. The show was hailed by Entertainment Weekly and Time magazines as one of the 100 Best Shows of All-Time. Here watch some of the funniest moments of the show such as The Piano Bit, The Lemon Bit, The Dice Game, and many many more.moreless
