Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy is the 1955 film directed by Charles Lamont starring the classic comedy duo Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. Freddie Franklin (Costello) and Peter Patterson (Abbott) are adventuring through Egypt when they overhear Dr. Gustav Zoomer (Kurt Katch) discussing the secret medallion hidden within the Tomb of Princess Ara. Written on the medallion are directions to the hidden treasure of Princess Ara. Unfortunately, Madamde Rontru (Marie Windsor), a businesswoman interested in the medallion, and Semu (Richard Deacon), the leader of The Followers of Klaris, also overhear this well kept secret. When Pete and Freddie decide that their new job should be to accompany the mummy back to America, they visit the doctor's office to apply for the position. When they arrive they discover that Semu's men have killed the doctor, but have accidentally left the medallion behind. When they try to sell the medallion after realizing it is cursed, hijinks ensue and the intrepid explorers must find their way out of murder plot involving the two of them and Semu's men. Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy is the 28th and final Abbott and Costello film released by Universal Pictures.moreless
