1986

PG-13
Absolute Beginners is a poignant musical about a pair of young people whose relationship is derailed in their ambition to get to the top of the fashion world. Colin (Eddie O'Connell) is a hip, lazy, Londoner that loves two things very much: photography, and Suzette (Patsy Kensit), his model girlfriend. But Suzette much more ambitious than Colin, so when she catches the interest of a much older, but very famous designer, Henley of Mayfair (James Fox), young Colin looks to be left in the dust. Determined to get his love's attention, Colin begins working with successful advertising executive Vendice Partners (David Bowie), who promises him ultimate success, but it may come at a steep price. Both Colin and Suzette fight to come up in the cutthroat world of fashion and get noticed, amidst a world brimming with increasing racial tension and social unrest. Julien Temple directs this song and dance vehicle, with notable performances from major stars in the world of entertainment.moreless
