Absolute Power is a 1997 crime thriller starring and directed by Clint Eastwood. Professional thief Luther Whitney (Clint Eastwood) wants to complete one last robbery before retiring from his life of crime, but gets interrupted in the middle of the job. Whitney quickly hides and witnesses a romantic liaison turn violent. Then, two Secret Service agents enter the room and shoot the woman and Whitney recognizes President Alan Richmond (Gene Hackman) as the man involved in the affair. Chief of Staff Gloria Russell (Judy Davis) orders a cleanup of the crime scene, with the intention of placing the blame of a burglar. But, the agents clean miss a key piece of evidence, which Whitney takes with him. The presidential entourage sees Whitney as he leaves but he gets away. Although Police investigator Seth Frank (Ed Harris) recognizes evidence of Whitney at the crime scene, but also discovers conflicting evidence. Meanwhile, President Richmond wants Whitney erased and Whitney has a few tricks of his own.
