Movie Summary

Director:
Steve Pink
Released:
2003
Rating:
PG-13
Accepted is a comedy film directed by Steve Pink that follows a group of college rejects who join together in order to create a college of their own making. Bartleby Gaines (Justin Long) had a prospective high school career with a knack for pranks and leading the school's fake ID market. When his lackluster grades lead to all rejection letters from his colleges, he creates his own college with the help of his nervous friend Sherman Schrader III (Jonah Hill). Originally designed as a way to get his strict father's (Mark Derwin) approval, Bartleby pulls in the help of other rejects, overachieving Yale reject Rory (Maria Thayer), injured athlete Hands (Columbus Short), and idiotic Glen (Adam Herschman), to make the South Harmon Institute of Technology into something more than just a website but a campus, which happened to be an abandoned mental hospital, and a dean, Schrader's ranting Uncle Ben (Lewis Black). Things slowly begin to get larger than anything they thought as hundreds of kids are accepted into S.H.I.T. and force Bartleby, Rory, Hands, and Glen to set up a college where not only you learn but teach as well. Things would have worked if South Harmon didn't stand in the way of prestigious (and real) Harmon College Dean Richard Van Horne's (Anthony Heald) plan for a Van Horne Gateway and he'll stop at nothing to get it.moreless
