According to Greta is a 2009 film starring Hilary Duff as a seventeen-year-old who considers taking her own life during one difficult summer. Witty and rebellious Greta (Hilary Duff) doesn't get along with her mother and new stepfather, so they send her to live with her grandparents in Ocean Grove, New Jersey for the summer. Annoyed by her mother's latest marriage and still grieving over the loss of her biological father years earlier, Greta begins keeping a "suicide notebook," where she jots down notes about ways to kill herself. While working at a restaurant, Greta falls in love with a line cook named Julie (Evan Ross) who has issues of his own. A former juvenile delinquent trying to leave behind his troubled past by becoming a chef, Julie seems like just the right person to help Greta make peace with her grandparents and stepfather.
