According to Spencer is a 2001 romantic comedy co-written by Marissa Ribisi, Meredith Morton, and Shane Edelman. It is also directed by Shane Edelman. Spencer (Jesse Bradford) is a shy and sheltered young man who is still living with parents at 25. He is struggling with life and love without much direction or confidence. Everything changes for Spencer when his much-loved grandmother dies; her last words encourage Spencer to move out and experience life. He moves to Los Angeles where he takes a job in a corporate mail room. Much to his surprise, Melora (Mia Kirshner) also works in the mail-room. Spencer had a crush on Melora back in high school. Now she dimly recognizes him but always get his name wrong. Spencer tries and tries, to woo Melora, while she uses his affection to further her goal of bedding the boss (David Krumholtz).
