PG-13

Adam is an unusual 2009 romantic drama about an awkward young man with Asperger's syndrome experiencing love for the first time. Adam Raki (Hugh Dancy) has lived a sheltered life in Manhattan. After his father's death, his only connection with the world is an old friend of his father's, Harlan (Frankie Faison) and a mindless job at a toy factory. Beth Buchwald (Rose Byrne) moves into his apartment building, just as he loses his job and receives notice that he may lose his inheritance. Although his condition makes social interaction difficult, he pursues Beth in his own way. Beth has her own relationship issues, and the two begin to form an unlikely pair. Complications develop when her parents meet Adam, and his limitations take on a new light for both of them. Written and directed by Max Mayer, the movie explores the complexity of love between two young people with difficulty expressing their emotions.
