Africa Screams is a 1949 comedy directed by Charles Barton. While Buzz Johnson (Bud Abbott) and Stanley Livington (Lou Costello) are in Klopper's department store, they meet millionaire Diana Emerson (Hillary Brooke), who is looking for a mysterious book called Dark Safari. She claims that a famous explorer left a map of Africa inside the book that leads to the mysterious orangutan gargantuan, a species that is thought to be extinct. Since Diana is willing to pay thousands of dollars to get the map, Stanley pretends like he knew the explorer and says that he is willing to lead her on an expedition into Africa. When Buzz and Stanley arrive in Africa with Diana and her team, the blundering duo try to keep up the charade that they are legitimate guides. As the explorers experience a series of comedic misfortunes in the jungle, the men soon learn that Diana is not interested in the orangutans and has a very different purpose for the expedition.moreless
