After the Fox is a comedic crime movie about an escaped criminal that masquerades as a famous director in order to smuggle a shipment of gold. In one of the biggest robberies ever committed, a rather large amount of gold has been stolen from Cairo, but Aldo Vanucci (Peter Sellers), the only man that would possibly be able to smuggle the goods into Europe, is stuck in an Italian prison. But they don't call Vanucci 'The Fox' for nothing, and he escapes the prison walls and concocts a master plan to get the Cairo gold shipment safely into Italy. Vanucci, also a master of disguise, plays the role of an avant garde film director, leading up the production of a film about a major gold heist. He enlists the services of aging and hilariously washed up Hollywood actor Tony Powell (Victor Mature), along with his beloved little sister Gina Romantica (Britt Ekland) to "star" in the farce, and convinces an entire southern Italian town to serve as the welcome committee for his hand delivered shipment of stolen goods. Vittorio De Sica directs and Neil Simon writes this playful caper about pretend art imitating life.moreless
