After The Storm is an adventure filled character study about a sea scavenger who looks to gain a healthy booty from a sunken yacht. After a meeting a smuggler ends violently, worn down seaman Arno (Benjamin Bratt), running from the police, discovers a luxury yacht full of valuables has sunk and looks to retrieve the goodies. Not able to secure the entirety of the boat's booty on his own, he accepts the help of fellow scavenger Jean Pierre (Armand Assante), and they begin to raid the the contents of the fallen vessel. With both men and their two better halves (Mili Avital, Simone-Elise Girard) aboard, the haul looks to be rather substantial, but Arno begins to suspect that Jean Pierre's help is not the kind he'd like. As paranoia and manipulation reign, it is clear that with this many hands in the pot, anything is likely to happen. Guy Ferland directs this captivating and dark film, based an Ernest Hemingway short story.moreless
